Snuffing the Turkey 4

snuffing the turkey concert poster

After almost a whole year of no concerts for me, I was really hoping for a metal show but this one did it for me. I was missing that stage in my life and I just needed this day to happen for me. Was it the same experience as a pre Covid show? Not really at all but we can’t do anything about that as of just yet. Here was my experience with my first post Covid show and I’ll dive into each act a little as well.

The venue “The Rail Club” in Fort Worth TX is very familiar to me because I’ve performed many shows and conducted many interviews there in the past so this was a great venue for me to return to. This visit, however, was different for obvious reasons. No alcohol, blocked standing areas and masks as a mandate were some different not fun differences. First off, it’s not like the owner was like “I want these changes”. He was forced to make these changes just like every venue owner during this time. The fact that Chris is still operating is amazing for the fans and concert goers. He has to do what he can to make money for the absent alcohol profits and the loss of capacity so he is selling all kinds of cool Rail Club souvenirs. It was a bit odd seeing most people sitting during performances however towards the end of the concert people started getting up and that made me more happy. I’ll be honest on this part, the energy was just not there for me until the 7th artist around 9pm. I’m very particular on my concert performances because I’m there to see a show more than here the music alone…. I get that when I listen to albums. So I was bummed for a good time…. bored is a good word here. Nothing against the artists music but everything with performance… I may get some hate for my opinions but I’m bringing them to you straight.

I got there a bit late, I missed the first 4 acts… so sorry for that, they may have blown the roof off of the venue, I’ll never know. so I’ll start with the 5th act.

Lil Zay is his name, I was super impressed with his loyalty as He drove far to perform. He did have a lot of energy and he was very hype but never really connected with the crowd so the energy I was searching for was absent. I feel like his music was slower for my taste as well but to each their own. He was aight.

Pac Manson had a story, he recently had jaw surgery and he had wires all hanging out of his jaw so that was impressive he still did his thing. The performance was eh for me but he did offer more in his music than I expected. The worse thing was his hype man…. I think it was his hype. The dude held the mic and kinda walked around in the background half dancing/ walking thing going on…. never seen him hype. He did have a part which was good but the rest of the time was just more distracting. Also, I hate super loud backing tracks… what is the point of performing at that point…. Anyways, my advice; get the dude off stage until his part or get better at hyping. Over all, good music.

Dirty Bars, the trio. I’ve seen these bros so many time and I’m still not bored. They brought the show life in my opinion. I finally started seeing people stand. These brothers flow very well together and I’ll support them full on that . I also noticed that Tony was rocking a patched up vest…. Very Suave Schwag of him and I support. I love seeing these guys. They are going through some family struggles right now so I do want to give them a special shout out and let them know that I’m here for them and I hope all goes well.

Apoc, The dude drove from Colorado so much props to him. I don’t like his music… I’m honest right? His music is not for me, I hardly get into that genre.. If you are doing Horrorcore and you’re not Scum or Insane Poetry, good luck getting me to actually dig your music…. however, if you get into that music, he’s right up your alley. He did say his voice was all screwed up so maybe that had to do with it as well. Anyways, I support the dude but the music is just not for me.

CHXXMPA…… Let me start off with…. DAMN. He always delivers. Dnice was his hype too and again… DAMN. I love these guys so much….. they are my ice cream truck to my inner kid…. They bring the crunkness and vibes were flying left and right…. this is what I recon the good drugs feel like. I just have one more thing to say about this perfomance…… DON”T STOP EVER. Go see them if you can.

Claas, He’s always a beast on stage. Unfortunately, I had to take off mid performance do to other obligations. Claas is always energy haven. He is so positively mean up on that stage…. loud…. energetic…. hype…. you can’t go wrong with Claas. I’ve seen Claas so many times over the past 16 years and I’m still amazed when seeing him…. One more thing to say to him…. that was a fresh hair cut my dude.

I can’t wait till my next show, hopefully its a metal show but who knows…. Nyro is throwing a Christmas show.
