The Devil Wears Prada

“Time’s moving like lightning. Time shifts like a glacier.”

It’s been a journey. A quite memorable journey for Ohio-based metalcore stalwarts The Devil Wears Prada. Frontman Mike Hranica joins the IUF podcast today to talk about their 8th and upcoming studio album, “Color Decay,” and how this record in particular is shaping up to be the band’s best one yet. Being in this profession for 17 years can be taxing, but for Mike, it is also done with a passion unmatched while he, along with his talented bandmates, have always one-upped themselves with each album release. In addition, it’s also the experiences of growing up during this timespan in the band’s success which makes the result that much more fulfilling. From touring the world, to their growing fanbase that have identified TDWP as major influences, Mike has always been humbled by the acknowledgements, and in result – the feelings being built up over the years have translated into memorable tunes in the heavy metal world. “I believe you can define our band by Color Decay.” says Mike, and this album has shown that The Devil Wears Prada do stretch their limits to new territories while staying true to their core sound. An important facet of this record deals with the production side of things, which involves TDWP band member and keys player Jon Gering. Mike takes a good moment to praise Jon, which has more than provided a sense of comfortability for him and the crew during pre-production. The chemistry is at the best it’s ever been for The Devil Wears Prada, and it’s heard loud and clear on “Color Decay.” We also ask Mike about his side projects, Dogma Coffee and Hacksaw Hockey – A small coffee and hockey apparel business respectively, which have both been thriving and serve as important strong suits for him outside of the music. Join us with a talented frontman who has aged like fine wine, both musically and personally. “Color Decay” from The Devil Wears Prada is a strong contender for album-of-the-year talks, and it’s time to let the gates open for a record that will please many music fans worldwide. It’s been a journey, and while time moves like lightning, the strong narrative for the band continues to build. “Color Decay” unleashes September 16 via Solid State Records.
