S.08 E.18 – Ryan Weddle of Katastro

interview under fire podcast s08 e18 ryan weddle of katastro

Rock, hip-hop, jazz, blues, reggae, and GOOD vibes – They have it all. We are joined by the talented bassist Ryan Weddle from the Arizona-based alt-rock quartet Katastro. The 6th album “Sucker” is set to release on July 16 and Ryan takes us through the band’s eventful journey leading up to this point in their career. Partying was great in their days of youth, but now after a decade and a half of making music, Ryan tells us how he and the band members needed to find that fine line and turn the page on making that said music life into a dream – but don’t get us wrong, we love partying. The dream is very much alive as Katastro has shared the stage with the likes of Dirty Heads, 311, and Pepper to name a few. Ryan also talks about the signing with a promising label like Controlled Substance Sound Labs and how they were the right ones Katastro needed to bring their artistic vision to life. Themes of broken relationships, finding yourself, and life, are common ideas that are felt in today’s times, and Ryan describes that songwriting process that many can relate to. This is the album the band needed to release, and the album the fans needed to hear. Ryan and his bandmates could not be more proud to be a part of the creation of “Sucker,” which to this day, has potential to be their best. Be sure to tune into this feel-good episode now. The new album drops July 16 on Controlled Substance Sound Labs.
