S.15 E.08 – Emmy Mack of RedHook

interview under fire podcast s15 e08 emmy mack of redhook

We welcome Psycho Spice, aka Emmy Mack from one of Australia’s rising heavy metal acts, RedHook. It’s shaping up to be a defining year for this viciously talented frontwoman, and Emmy starts us off by talking about the early days of performing, including her first band Smokin’ Mirrors and the influences of notable acts such as Chester Bennington and Axl Rose. Fast forward to now with RedHook, and joining forces with ther bandmates Craig Wilkinson, Alex Powys, and Ned Jankovic, the quartet have formed a chemistry that has been catching the attention from the likes of Kerrang, Rock Sounds, and even Rolling Stone. Make no mistake, as they are here to stay with their debut album on the horizon, titled “Postcard From A Living Hell.” RedHook have combined elements of metalcore, electronica, and rap, and have surely found their established sound that will keep the mosh pits circling into oblivion. Emmy also talks about performing at revered music festivals such as Download, Good Things, and BigSound, and the elements of grasping a persona when on stage. There’s a sense of therapy in performing live, as Emmy taps into a whole other dimension of herself that she may not be able to reach elsewhere, this also includes the in-depth songwriting in the lyrical compositions. With RedHook, Emmy has found her home, and we could not be more excited for what the future holds for her and her bandmates. We end this interview with the Hot Seat, so you’ll want to tune in to this one. Listen now and be sure to buy and stream RedHook’s debut, “Postcard From A Living Hell,” out worldwide on April 21.
