October 11th, 2025 – Majestic Theatre
Steven Wilson brought “The Overview” Tour to The Majestic Theatre in Dallas, Texas this past Saturday night, delivering a performance that blurred the lines between cinema and live music. The evening was divided into two halves. The first is dedicated to The Overview, which is Wilson’s latest album. The second was a journey through his extensive solo career, and a touch of Porcupine Tree.

As the show began in near-total darkness, the crowd cheered with enthusiasm, then hushed as “Objects Outlive Us” began. During “Objects: Meanwhile” the crowd began to sing along, and the show officially kicked off. The stunning visuals behind the band were evocative and abstract but purposeful, intended for the audience to experience the sound as visuals and added another layer of magic to the experience. After a brief intermission, Wilson and his band returned to the stage to perform the main set.
Opening with “King Ghost”, the band was greeted with a wave of applause and cheer. The musicianship was as expected, utterly astounding – “Home Invasion/Regret #9” and “Impossible Tightrope” in particular showcased the band’s technical ability and precision.“What Life Brings” and “Staircase” offered the crowd moments of reflection and contemplation before Porcupine Tree’s “Dislocated Day” satisfied longtime Steven Wilson fans with a bit of nostalgia.

Throughout the night, the visuals remained an important and extensive part of the performance. The surreal videos and interesting lighting made what was meant to be a rock show feel more like an immersive art installation. One of the most interesting parts of the show was the audience. We live in an era where bright phone lights distract from the performance, but that was not the case on Saturday night. The audience remained respectful of Wilson and his band’s request to avoid phone usage during the show. The majestic crowd was fully present, engaging, and attentive. Wilson seemed genuinely delighted by the environment and the audience. “I thought I’d have to scold you for being too quiet” he joked mid-show, then stated he was pleasantly surprised by the crowd’s enthusiasm. His banter between songs revealed a relaxed, playful Wilson, which the audience adored.
The encore was unsurpassed – “Ancestral” unfolded with breathtaking intensity and erupted with power. “The Raven That Refused to Sing” brought the night to an end with a hauntingly beautiful close. Saturday night with Steven Wilson and his band at the Majestic was a reminder that live music is meant not only to be heard, but to be felt as well.
